Fantan Claims Winky D Took Advantage of Young Artists on His Latest Album

As the sun sets on another day, it seems there’s yet another twist in the drama and hullabaloo surrounding Winky D’s album. The latest chapter features Chillspot legend, Fantan. In a letter penned on his Facebook, the producer addressed the public and Winky D himself. He called him out for “taking advantage” of young artists. He said Winky should’ve stated that the album was funded and it is a project that discusses politics.

Fantan went on to claim that artists were now losing out income, due to companies not wanting to be associated with political conversations. The letter comes in stark contrast to what others in the music industry have been saying, as artists like Baba Harare were singing Winky D high praises about the project. Baba Harare said the features on Eureka! Eureka! represented a passing of the baton from one generation to the next and this was a good thing.

Fantan also expressed that he had initially felt excitement when he saw that all these young artists were featured on Winky’s album. He had seen it as a passing of the baton but then his feelings changed when he saw that Winky D hadn’t fully informed the young artists on what the album was truly about. Here’s Fantan’s letter in full:

Ndanga ndanzwa nevanhu vachiti ko sei ndakanyara iye mukuru akabuditsa dambarefu. Vamwe ndai ignore but since mibvunzo yawanda here is my point of view.

Yes I was excited to hear about the project. I was happy to see other artistes featuring for once pamagitare emukuru. This time he included other artists which was a dream come true for all of us, vaida kuonawo chimuti chichitambidzanwa from one generation to another and to see two generations combining.

But saelder muindustry when you do certain projects you must enlighten the youths you engage zvizere kuti project riri funded and tave kuimba zvematongerwo enyika so that anopinda achida nemoyo wake munyaya dzacho.

Ini ndiri kutaura semunhu akagroomer and akamentor most of the youths vari paproject iroro. Zvirikundirwadza to see them crying behind the scenes kuti takakandwa pasi pe bhazi nemukuru wedu kumagitare. Right now mukuru vaya vari kuDubai kuHoliday nefamily yavo zvavo zvakaita. Isusu now tava pama1 because some companies no longer want to associate with us because they dont want their brands associated ne politics of any nature.

As elders ibasa redu to groom, guide and protect vana. Its cruel kuti as an elder in a position yekuvimbiwa nevana unozovaitisa uchiziva kuti yako life irikufamba. This is my opinion hapana daka feel free to have your own opinion.

Anyway, have a blessed day to everyone. God bless you all. Together, tirimurudo rwemazvokwadi, we can take Zim music to the world.

Holy Ten who has been the only artist to address the conversation around the album, had publicly stated that his collaboration with Winky D wasn’t political.
